One Year Anniversary

Well today is my 1year of having my own business !!!!!! Wow have I learned a lot. Not just on how to run and operate the salon in an Rv.

There was a lot of learning curves in the Beauty Carriage. Well of course I come up with this crazy idea and of course there was no blue print on my salon. I have had to come up with everything . From the perfect layout of the Rv , to the wall paper used , the right floor that can with stand the elements, the right grout that was more flexible than normal grout, the right size chair that will fit everyone’s body type, and the shampoo bowl.

I had to come up with what I want the client to feel and hopefully inspire . For that time you are in my shop that you feel that this is your personal salon and to truly relax by the beach and look at life a bit different. To get a away of the busy daily grind of the day to day.

Also Beauty Carriage has opened my eyes to the world in which we live in . We are basically off the grid in the Beauty Carriage . Only using fuel to go and fro from the beach but also to blow dry hair. No more roasting anyone under the dryer for their color or highlights. From not being in an air conditioned place I have seen a difference in my color and the hair is in much better condition.

I am now starting my own product line that is organic . We know where it is coming from and what is in it. One of my dreams is to one day retail these products and to franchise out my salon.

Thank you all that has stood by me and see the dream come true. I am truly blessed to have the right people in my life.

Excited for the future of my salon

Aloha! I am so excited to be writing about my next big venture!!! I have decided to start making my own shampoo and conditioner !! This idea that I have is stemming from getting away from corporate America . Not knowing what is in the food that we are eating . But now I am researching what is in shampoo and conditioners and not liking what I am finding.

My eyes have been really opened up to this subject due to my child’s allergy to food. Now reading every label it’s disturbing what I am finding. This has completely hanged the way I view things.

I want to make products that I know where it is made and the quality in which it is made. That the ingredients are food grade products and that are certified organic . No animal bi products . No testing on animals. No formaldehyde (which disturbed me its in shampoo) . We know what we are putting on our selves and won’t hurt us.

My dream is to also do a aromatherapy bar that we can custom design for you purpose . All of my products will have my oil blend in them. Which is kukui nut oil, macadamia nut oil, and coconut oil.

I’m hoping in the next month I will have this in my shop for everyone to enjoy!

A little something new to try

Aloha. Sorry I didn’t write a post In the past 2weeks. I had some family issues to deal with. But now everything is back on track. So this for this post I want to talk about going to different cultures beauty supplies! I absolutely love going to check out what women in different parts of the world use on their skin but also their makeup.

While I was on my Hawaii trip my friend and I stopped in a Korean beauty store. From the outside it looked like an American shop called ” The Body Shop” . There was everything in this store. So we decided to get some facial masks . I also bought some face lotion.

As I was walking around I noticed that there was a lot of marine based anti aging products. Like green algae and seaweed. Another big ingredient was fermented red algae . I saw these ingredients in sun block , facial products , and even makeup. The girl that worked there didn’t speak very good English so I didn’t there a very good description of why and what the ingredient is good for.

Along a wall were individual masks to buy for $2. For $2 I will try it. It was raining that night in Oahu so what other fun to do then a girls night in! I bought the collagen mask and my friend bought a pearl mask for brightening . It was crazy when we pulled it out of the package. It looked like a serial killer mask. We did it just as instructed . The results were amazing ! These products really work and I don’t say that too much anymore.

So don’t be afraid to try new beauty products from different cultures ! You never know and might be pleasantly suprised!

Aloha, Mahalo

Wedding inspiration

Aloha !! This past weekend I did one of my first weddings of the season. At this wedding I did hair and makeup !!! Man I didn’t realize how much I love doing makeup. Thank god the wedding party match my style to a t. Simple beautiful not structured hair and if course natural flawless makeup . When I started re supplying my kit the Mac makeup artist said to use pro consealer as a base !! I couldn’t believe it . But of course I listened and wow. Does it look amazing . I think I also helped with the primer and added an instant glow . I also used a brush I never use for the eyeliner and a different one for the blush.

The 219 brush I used to apply gel liner from Mac. And then I blended it out with a q tip. The look I think is natural and really got the skin at the lash line covered . So when I applied lashes it was flawless .

The duo fiber brush I used to apply the blush. And I really loved this because I’m really into layering several different colors together. This brush picked up the pigment but not a heavy as a regular all natural hair brush.

Here are some pics from my iPhone .
The hair is simple messy but structured . The theme of the wedding was natural shabby chic barn . It was amazing!!

Hope you like the pics as much as I had fun doing the wedding. And added note. My sister helped me out with the hair !! I couldn’t of done it with out her.

If you know of anyone looking for hair and makeup please refer Beauty Carriage!!! I would love to do it!

Support local business

Aloha friends!!! As a small business myself I always try to support small local shops while I am at home here in San Diego and on vacation. I feel it’s really important to maybe go out of our way to find those places and maybe pay a bit more in the end.

While my my trip I stumbled upon a super cool coffee shop that had local hats , sign, and jewelry artists . Of course I bought an amazing sign made of all recycled local wood and paint . I also bought my hat that I am obsessed with! I love my gems I found because I know no one has these and that to me makes them special .

I also in my favorite towns I follow shops, photographers, and bloggers on Instagram . They are fun to follow and see what is going on in the culture of that city.

Hawaii inspired me

While I was sitting on the beach in Hawaii , I came up with an idea to make a hair and body oil . The oil would be a wonderful conditioning / waterproof product while the summer elements take a toll on our hair. Siting there on the beach and going into that Hawaiian water I was thinking what oils would be the best. And then it came to me. Kukui , coconut, and macadamia nut oils would be amazing!!!!! Researching the oils I then discovered that they would be perfect for hair and so wonderful to put on the body after your shower !!!!

Kukui nut oil – super fatty light weight oil . Great for hair and skin. Really helps skin with sunburn and eczema .

Macadamia nut oil – full of anti oxidants and good fats. Natural sebum oil . And heals wounds and sunburn .

Coconut oil – natural antibacterial properties . Helps strengthen the under lying skin. An unexpected use is a natural deodorant !!!! Helps skin with free radicals . Also of course with sunburn!!

I will have these for sale starting in June !!!! $15 each !!!!

This is my first post on the new journey I am embarking on

I am so excited to be writing my first post sitting on the beach in Maui . I have been so inspired on this trip . I found myself again . For the past 4 years I have been a mother , wife, and now entrepreneur . This trip has made me realize my dreams for my self , family , and for my business . I hope to inspire you and share some of my thoughts .

As I embarked on this trip I was really having a hard time leaving my family and my business . Deep down I knew I needed this trip to Hawaii but not realizing how much till I got here. I needed time to my self and find out what is important to me as a mother and a business woman.

The goals I have for my salon are quite large. I know it won’t happen over night but slowly I am getting there. This blog for the Beauty Carriage isn’t about something that is trendy . Beauty carriage is about a lifestyle . Slowing down and taking a deep breath to relax and enjoy life. Beauty Carriage is about letting go of your daily life grind and to get back to what’s important.

I will be posting about once a week. Most likely some thing that has inspired me , what I am into beauty wise, and maybe general ideas to get feed back from.

Here are some pics from my trip that has reborn me !!!! Aloha and Mahalo
